Kata Sangkhae

Born in 1976 in Thailand, Kata Sangkhae is an accomplished artist with a rich academic background. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from the School of Fine and Applied Arts, Bangkok University, Thailand. Continuing his pursuit of artistic excellence, Kata furthered his studies with a Master’s Degree in the Sculpture Area at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, and later attained his Ph.D. from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT), Australia.
With an illustrious career spanning two decades, Kata has served as a dedicated professor at Bangkok University's School of Fine and Applied Arts. As a contemporary artist, his work delves into themes of identity, urbanization, tourism, cultural environments, and socio-political issues arising from shifting places and locations. His artistic expressions manifest across various mediums, including installations, video works, and sculptures.

Kata's artistic journey has been showcased in solo exhibitions at prestigious venues such as VER Gallery, Kathmandu Photo Gallery, and Bangkok University Gallery in Thailand. His participation in the inaugural Bangkok Art Biennale in 2018 marked a significant milestone. Notable group exhibitions featuring Kata's work have been held at prominent institutions including the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), 100 Tonson Gallery, and Tadu Contemporary Art Gallery. Beyond borders, Kata has contributed to exhibitions in Austria, South Korea, Australia, China, Luxembourg, Nepal, Singapore, and the USA (L.A.).
